Day 1: City Immersion | 1 Nights Kigali, Rwanda

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you’ll be welcomed and transferred to the elegant Kigali Serena Hotel for check-in. Spend the afternoon at your leisure, unwinding in one of the city’s finest hotels.

Ideally located in the heart of Kigali, this 5-star hotel blends modern luxury with rich Rwandan culture, featuring locally inspired art, a saltwater pool, a rejuvenating spa, and two farm-to-table restaurants. It’s the perfect base to relax before your gorilla trekking adventure begins.

After breakfast, journey to Butare, Rwanda’s cultural capital, for a guided visit to the National Museum—a rich showcase of local heritage, art, and history. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before continuing to Nyungwe National Park, one of Africa’s oldest rainforests.

Lake Kivu is one of the greatest freshwater lakes in Rwanda and it has a secluded inland beach that is lined with leaning palms and is enclosed by green terraced hills. The rest of the day is at your leisure before retiring for the night at Lake Kivu Serena Hotel.

The hotel has a resort feel that overlooks the lake, and has its own swimming pool, tennis courts and gym. You could also spend the day fishing, jet-skiing or taking a slow canoe ride on the lake, simply revelling in the magic of the surroundings.
